 Olive
is a symbol of peace. Extending an olive branch is a gesture of goodwill and
taking into consideration the need of the modern world for friendship,
solidarity and cooperation among nations we invite you to take part in Spring
Day of Europe.
Schools from all over Europe get together to discuss the values which are more
important for the future Europe. Values such as peace, equality, tolerance and
democracy.
In ancient Egypt olive was utilized in rituals for its ability to bring together
many different peoples, beliefs and values.
Let us remember that the prize for the winners of the Olympic Games was a wreath
of wild olive, 'kotinos'. In 2004 Olympic games will be hosted in their
birthplace Greece. Olympic ideals can contribute to the creation of a peaceful
and better world. Spring day promotes dialog, reconciliation, mutual
understanding, solidarity.
Spring day is a performance of all pupils and it aims at emphasizing the
significance of respecting co-existence. Let's build together bridges of
understanding.
